H - Revolver's Custom Weapons

I decided to make some custom weapons for the game. Note that none of these have as of yet been approved for adding to the game.

The prototypes were sprites that I thought looked cool before I finished the weapon.



SHIELD BLASTER: If approved, this weapon will deplete your shields fully when fired, converting shield energy into plasma, and homing in on an enemy for an instant kill. Coupled with active camo, this is an unstoppable force of destruction. At the last minute I decided it looked too much like a gravity hammer spot-welded to a big assault rifle, so I changed the stock.

ENERGY SWORD GUN: Plays like an energy sword (silent and instant kill-y), but trades lunge for the ability to shoot off-screen. So basically, an energy sword that *gasp* requires skill!!! The problem I'm having is whether it'd be side-loading (looks stupid, makes more sense) or front-loading (makes no sense to have a gun that shoots sideways from the muzzle break, but looks a lot better for a sidescroller).

COVENANT LASER: Prototypes A and B were intended to be a Covvie version of the Assault Rifle, but I later decided on a Covvie Version of the Spartan Laser. It's somewhat less powerful but also a lot lighter.

HEAVY SNIPER: A super-high precision, Covenant-tweaked version of the human sniper rifle. Held almost exactly like a Brute Shot (originally that was going to be a stock, but it would be impossible to use the extra-extra-long scope that way), it allows players to have much greater accuracy and power but is also heavier then the normal sniper by at least two times (miniturret-esque).

DEATHRAY TURRET: I really liked that "Gravity-Hammer-For-Butt-Stock" idea, so I re-implemented it here. It's vehicle mounted (probably a special black warthog, but I may come up with a custom one) and would definitely be single-player only. Why, you ask? It's an automatic Spartan Laser. I intended it for maybe some sort of epic fight against a flying boss, maybe a covenant ship, or those a giant version of one of those bug thingies from Halo 2/3 (I only have Halo 1, so I cannae tell ye what they're called).

HAND-GUN: A gun with unlimited ammo, automatically switched to when you have no ammo for anything else (since Halo Revolution has no melee system). Mounted to a cuff on Master Chief's wrist. Haven't decided whether it's bullet-based or plasma-based. I don't like the design, but then again a really-weak last-ditch-effort gun shouldn't look cool.

Very nice job. Although I don't think we planned on adding custom made weapons by the community, or start making extra weapons not from the halo universe quite yet, this are very interesting sprites that are well made.

Yeah. It was pretty easy to notice that a lot of it was copied and pasted from other guns, but I like the creativity. I don't know how well those would go in halo, just with knowledge of the story and the current balance of weapons, but I like the effort and the creative back story.

Especially the assault rifle and gravity hammer. They're so blatant

Anyway, assuming these actually get in, of course I'll change it. But at least the Covenant Laser is original.

Which version of the Energy Sword gun do you like better?

Uhm, I like the one where you see the sword better, from the side. Maybe try adding some sort of mechanism that holds the sword that you can see, so it doesn't look like the sword is just behind it?

Hmm.... Well, if I just had like... an arm of some sort... It would be possible. It would just kind of look really, really dumb. Like, somebody duct-taped an energy sword to a stick and shoving it down the barrel of a shotgun.

Not like that, but like have it stay exactly where it is, just have something that you can see sticking out of the gun but staying within the sword that holds it down somehow.

Those weapons are awesome!!! We arn't taking custum made weapons just yet, but we will be once all of the current one's are perfect, and we've started on some game modes. I like the energy sword gun, the first sprite of it (with the sword showing). When it shoots, we'd have an animation of the sword rotating through the air. (Not spinning, Rotating. Think of it from a 3D point of view). The others are cool too, and they kind of fit the style we've been working at. Maybe when we start having custom weapons, they'll be used

Maybe you could put them under a <Custom Weapons> category in the level editor?

Also, maybe for the sword gun, before you shoot the whole front mechanism spins around real fast, then it shoots out and keep spinning while the gun then slows down and stops. Kind of like a second of charging, but you could kill multiple people with it. They would definitely need to be for forge and maybe online custom fun games only.

Yeah, you would just want to add a frame for all the 45 degree angles too, so it looks smother and you can tell its spinning.

no offense or anything but i think the energy sword on looks really ..... um ..... unprofessional. Try and make onjects jojn together. the sword is obviously just stuck behind the gun. Have a go at making it part of the actual gun, e.g. "emitters" of the energy "blades" (one above the barrel, one below).

All the others are good but try to vary the bits that are copy and pasted and don't mix covenant with UNSC (unless the humans want to create a hybrid and even then, it would have varied parts)

Didja read a lot of the descriptions? That is what the humans are doing.
